Can I check my JAMB result without SIM?

JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) is the organization in Nigeria responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which is the entrance examination for students seeking admission into tertiary institutions. After taking the exam, candidates are anxious to know their results. One question that is commonly asked is whether it is possible to check JAMB results without a SIM card. In this article, we will explore the different methods of checking JAMB results and determine whether a SIM card is required or not.

Method 1: Using the JAMB website

The first method of checking JAMB results is by using the JAMB website. To do this, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Visit the JAMB result checking portal at https://www.jamb.gov.ng/efacility./CheckUTMEResults.

Step 2: Enter your JAMB registration number or email address in the provided space.

Step 3: Click on “Check My Result.”

Step 4: Wait for the page to load. Your JAMB result will be displayed on the screen.

From the above steps, it can be seen that a SIM card is not required to check JAMB results using the JAMB website. All that is needed is an internet-enabled device and access to the internet.

Method 2: Using the JAMB mobile app

Another method of checking JAMB results is by using the JAMB mobile app. To do this, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Download and install the JAMB mobile app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Step 2: Launch the app and click on “Check UTME Results.”

Step 3: Enter your JAMB registration number in the provided space.

Step 4: Click on “Check My Result.”

Step 5: Wait for the page to load. Your JAMB result will be displayed on the screen.

Similar to checking JAMB results using the JAMB website, a SIM card is not required to check JAMB results using the JAMB mobile app.

Method 3: Using the SMS method

The third method of checking JAMB results is by using the SMS method. To do this, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open the messaging app on your phone.

Step 2: Type “RESULT” followed by a space.

Step 3: Type your JAMB registration number in the next space.

Step 4: Send the message to 55019.

Step 5: Wait for the response from JAMB. Your JAMB result will be sent to you via SMS.

From the above steps, it can be seen that a SIM card is required to check JAMB results using the SMS method. This is because the message is sent to a shortcode, which can only be accessed through a mobile network.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is possible to check JAMB results without a SIM card using the JAMB website or the JAMB mobile app. However, if you choose to use the SMS method, a SIM card is required. It is important to note that each of these methods may attract a different fee. While the JAMB website and mobile app are free to use, the SMS method attracts a fee of N50 (fifty naira). It is advisable to confirm the fee before using any of the methods to avoid any unforeseen charges.
